Surf Defeat Divisional British Army Women's Team in Friendly

The British Intelligence division of the British Army plays in the UK military soccer league. This week the women's team is on a preseason tour in Florida, training and playing against several local teams. Last night Surf played against them at Central Winds. After Surf went up 2-0 in the first 10 minutes, the British team settled in and pulled one back before halftime to bring it to 2-1. Neither team was able to score for most of the second half, until Surf was able to break through with two late goals. The final score was 4-1.

Two more friendlies will be played at Central Winds, with Sucats playing on Saturday night at 6pm, and Whiskers playing on Wednesday night at 8pm.

New Season Info

Here is the info for the upcoming season. All paperwork is due by July 30th at the latest. Of course sooner would be better. Please read this over and contact Janet with any questions you may have.

Schedule

  • Tuesday Night games, 8:00 pm start, Central Winds Fields.
  • Runs from Sept 2 to Nov 11th.
  • Rainouts may be rescheduled for another night.

Commitment

By signing up to play, please understand that you are making a commitment to your teammates and you need to come to as many games as possible. Too many times there were games that were short on players or the team only had 11. This is not fair to your teammates, the other team, or the league as a whole.

Two Divisions

In an effort to grow the size of the league, along with much feedback from current and past players, we will be dividing the league into "A" and "B" divisions. The “A” level would be for those that want a more serious and competitive league and the “B” level would be for those beginner/intermediate players or those who are just out for some fun.

We are working to have the "B" division in place later this year. Details will follow soon, so please let me know right away if you are interested in playing in this "B" division.

Rosters

Because of this new structure and focus and commitment, we will attempt to limit the rosters to 18 players. In addition, we will limit the number of beginner/intermediate players on each team.

New players will be placed on teams to try and even out the skill levels of all teams. Having strong and weak teams only causes the strong teams to get bored and the weak teams to quit, which doesn't benefit anyone. The goal is to grow the size and competitiveness of the league as a whole.
