Welcome!
Orlando Women's Soccer is an organization dedicated to organizing soccer for women in the Central Florida area. We have been doing this since 2004, and are continuously growing to serve the needs of the women's soccer community. Please check us out, and fill out the information form at the bottom if you want more information about the leagues.
Fequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most asked questions that new players have.
I am interested in playing. How do I sign up?
Fill in the Information Form at the bottom of the page. We will get in touch with you soon and fill you in on all the details.
What type of soccer leagues are there in Orlando?
There are several different leagues in Orlando, ranging from full field outdoor games to small sided outdoor games to indoor leagues. Currently, the outdoor full field game is the only true women's league, and that's what we cover on this website. The women's league is headed by the Central Florida Soccer League, and we assist them in running it. The others are either open or coed leagues.
When does the outdoor, full field league play? How long is the season?
The league has two seasons, fall and spring, which run from late August to early December, and from early February to late April. This includes 8 regular season games plus playoffs. Currently, games are on Tuesday nights from 8-10 pm.
Where are the games played?
Games are played at Central Winds Park in Winter Springs.
How much does it cost?
Exact cost are set each year by the CFSL, but the approximate costs are:
- Player pass, good for fall and spring season: $22
- Uniform, good for fall and spring season: $20
- Team fees, for each season: $55
So the cost for the fall season is about $100, and then would be about $60 for the spring season since the player pass and uniform would be good for both seasons. If you join for just the spring, it would be $100, and then $100 again in the fall.
That seems like a lot! What is all that money going for?
Well, if you figure that it's $160 for two seasons, and you have at least 9 games a season, that's less than $9 a game. That include a uniform that you get to keep, costs for 3 refs per game, a referee assignor, field rental, lights, state soccer fees, and paperwork costs. $9 a game isn't really that much for a full 90 minute game each week.
What is the age range and level of competition?
Right now we have quite a range of skills and ages. The minimum age is 18, and we have players in their 50s playing. The average age is probably in the late 20s, early 30s. Skill levels vary from beginners to ex college players. Currently, teams have players from all ages and skill levels, in an effort to keep some parity between the teams and have the matches be competitive. As the league grows in size, we hope to have divisions dedicated to competitive and recreation levels.
What to I need equipment wise to play?
Just the basic soccer equipment. Your uniform jersey and player pass will be included in your fees when you join. You will need shinguards and cleats, along with shorts and soccer socks. Most teams use black shorts and white socks, but you'll be told if this is different once you are assigned to a team.
I want to join, but can I be on the team my friend is on?
Probably. Each team only has a certain number of roster spots, and we try to assign teams to balance out the talent so that no one team wins or loses every match. But we do try our best to allow friends to play together on the same team. The earlier you sign up, the easier this is to do.
There used to be an indoor league. What happened to that?
The indoor center itself closed, and so the league was shut down. The indoor center has since reopened, but the new owner has said he is not interested in having a women's league. We are trying to get something started, but he doesn't seem too interested at the moment. We'll keep trying!
